I don't hate liberals, I just have no respect for them.

(I'm just kidding. Like conservatives, there are thoughtful ones, and then there are mindless ones who tow the party line regardless of the circumstances. It's just some liberal positions are so self contradictory that it's easy to poke fun at. If you can coherently defend a position, and not just fall back on buzzwords like privilege or any -phobic, I'm glad to discuss a topic with you. Typically we will still disagree due to an underlying difference in what we value. Liberals tend to value personal security a little more than personal freedom while conservatives tend to value personal freedom more than personal security. Most issues are about finding the proper balance point between the two. Liberal tend to argue "fairness" without realizing that it means different things to different people.)

If they value "security" over personal freedom then they are not true "liberals". True "liberals" value freedom and equality. And, "conservatives" are not the opposite of "liberals". Many "conservatives" are also "liberals".

Then why do self identified liberals want to limit gun access (that's a freedom), add more regulation (restricting freedom), strip companies of thier freedom to refuse service, Rob people the freedom to opt out of health insurance (compulsory participation), ect.
I understand that the labels don't mean what they used to, I'm going with how they are currently used.

Because they're "Democrats" not liberals. Democrats have their specific "wedge issues" they promote like abortion and gun control. Republicans are, historically, the liberals in the U.S. They voted for the Civil Rights Act and promoted equality in voting.

Oh, and today the Democrats are a combination of "Neocon" and "Neoliberal". The Neocons are for fighting wars for world domination and making the rich richer while the Neoliberals are the "Third Way" politics of austerity and the increasing of corporate power.
