It's hard for me to believe that that actually happens (people upvoting the meme because of the user who made it). I don't really understand that way of thinking.

It's weird. One time you said you didn't believe that, and the second time you said you believed that, and now you don't.

Raydog is the biggest example of course.

I don't remember saying I believed it before, but I don't really have a reason to doubt you. I could have been tired or I could have been trying to say something else.

What I think is this: being a popular user gets you views, but no guarantee of upvotes. And yes, if people come to your page to view your memes, that's a help towards them upvoting (since they're there anyway), but it's no guarantee and I don't think people would upvote something they personally hate just because they like the user.

If Raydog made racist, offensive, or trolling memes (just to pick examples of what people generally don't like), people wouldn't upvote those.

Yeah, that's true, I'm saying that most Raydog memes will get upvotes even if they're not too funny, I'm not saying that they'll get upvotes if they're racist, offensive or trolling.

I think this guy that made this meme was probably Sir_Memesalot.

It's possible that Sir_MemesAlot made the weekly leaderboard. He was making some good memes.

And SirMemeALot (the other user with a similar name) may have made the weekly leaderboard as well - when he made Hide the Pain Harold famous on imgflip. :)
