You can't change it. The only option would be to start a new account with the name you want.

I wanted to change it to something more creative and interesting. My current name sucks; I thought of it two years ago while I was sick and drugged on advil.

His name shall be 'Noob'...
And there is much he is happy to forget

I've seen some people change it, but I think it depends on what kind of email you signed up with.

Try going to your username in the top right corner of the screen, going to "Profile," then click "Edit Profile" and try clicking on your username.

If that doesn't help, you're probably stuck with the name. I've tried to change mine, but couldn't.

Unless you want to, of course.
