Yup, those would be the systems that wouldn't exist withou the ones before it. Someday somebody might ask you the same thing about what you grew up with. I'm proud to have been alive and playing when video games were first invented personally ;)
The original Playstation seems ancient to anyone in my generation. I've never even heard of a Sega Genesis until I read your comment, it made me look it up. :D
Sega still makes games lol. I don't have mine anymore it's not like I still play it. I'm a playstation guy, EA made james pond and they are one of the biggest companies around now. Heck I had the original console it took to play pong haha. An entire console just to play as two paddles hitting a ball back and forth. Gaming has come a long way, before long we'll all be in virtual reality games I'm sure ;)
True but not like what they are creating now, entire buildings you can go into and walk through a virtual world. Sega died when the Sega CD console flopped. Load times were horrible and the games not much better than previous consoles. Plus it was expensive for the time and back then getting your parents to drop a lot of cash on a new technology wasn't easy. Now the parents are gamers like me so kids have it much better. I started my daughter playing sonic when she was around 2, every button makes him jump she loved it.
That's how I remember it, only those with very generous parents had it. It felt rather special to play it, even though the graphics and load time could get frustrating wheb you th\\\\\
