I believe the gospel's purpose is temporal. The ultimate purpose of life is to be co-heirs with Christ of the glory to be revealed. When that era dawns and sin is swept away, the gospel will live on in the testimony of the redeemed. Those aware of the gospel are accountable for their response. Those unaware will be judged by their conscience. Those who die in their youth get a back stage pass. Those who don't consider themselves worthy of eternal life needn't whine if God doesn't either--they go to the place prepared for Satan and his angels. All fully stated for centuries. I think many Christians--myself included--fail to understand the gravity God assigns to this decision. The result can be a flippant or snarky dressing down of sinners, which is sad to see when it happens. But no one is guaranteed an Oscar performance in the delivery of gospel truth.
