Cat owner "wacks cat with broom so the cat drops the bird"

Cat "ouch that hurt"

Bird " lays on the ground for hours in excruciating pain and dies slow death"

Cat owner " awwwww the poor thing"

I don't have a cat, but if it's small enough for the cat to catch, then it is it's natural prey. I see nothing wrong with animals behaving like animals. What exactly do you expect the cat owners to do to stop them from chasing their natural prey?

"I see nothing wrong with animals behaving like animals". Would you still be saying that if you had a mountain lion that saw YOU as prey and behaving naturally bearing down on you?

Well, I'd expect it (actually were a little larger than mountain lions preferred prey), and I'd do what I could to defend myself. There's a reason we shouldn't keep animals large enough to see us as prey as pets. They need to be kept differently than standard pets, and interacted with under controlled conditions.
For instance, if I had a tiger as pet pet, I couldn't let it wander around the neighborhood or just leave it chained in the yard. I also shouldn't let it sleep in bed with me.

People who are okay with their cats catching wildlife are okay by me.
