They think that just because I'm a conservative, and dems are generally libs, that they can slap "I <3 Reagan" bumper sticker on their car and get my vote.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the menial "increase" is for is to be able to give the secret service security guys a raise and to cover the increased costs of maintaining all of the logistics of security and planning.Whatever is left after that distribution,which if any will go to the retired commander and chiefs in the future.For doing one of the most important jobs in the world for 8 years I think it's reasonable,especially when compare to a corporate CEO's multi-million dollar pension.

Not that it isn't reasonable, but the comparison to corporations is ONLY valid if they are receiving tax payer money. When tax payers are involved, they should have some say. For example, I can choose to boycott Target, or I can choose to support Target based on their most recent statements. However, if I have to pay tax money to make special bathroom upgrades for a corporation...then it becomes an issue. What a lot of people don't understand about corporate tax is that the more they are taxed, the more I have to pay. Also, the large corporations will have no issue a few tax changes, because that allows them to become monopolies, and I can never run a business as joe shmoe.

The corporate raiders of the 80's have lead to the uber corporations of today that own subsidiary company's that have made it difficult for mom/pop (very small business) that can't compete in retail markets.When the revenue from those were lost,taxpayers have to make it up.The same when companies outsource or are allowed to take huge tax breaks,the taxpayer has to make up for those lost revenues.It's become very out of proportion.

Out of proportion is an understatement. Personally, I believe wholeheartedly that if you pay a tax, you are a slave. There are plenty of free people in the US...most of them are not, however, honest. But, the largest dishonesty-- again, in my humble opinion-- is that complacent citizens of the USA have convinced themselves (of course, propaganda and conditioning play a role) that they, "own" things, that they do not live in government housing, that they are free, and most disgustingly, they are not slaves.
