Another way to do it is to pick a popular image for the meme comment, then use the "Add Image" function above the meme generator while you're making the comment. If you select Insert Image, it gives you an option to search through other site templates, and it inserts it as a smaller picture within the image that you can then stretch out to cover the whole picture (if that makes sense). If you do it that way, it shouldn't bump you out of the page.
The trick is to make sure that the dimensions of the popular image and the dimensions of the image you're going to replace it with are roughly the same - otherwise it distorts it.
