Generally if you don't upvote and you stay offthe meme if doesn't get the views, so you and other users do decide. The trick, though, is to get everyone else to do the same.

,,, And it seems if there is a certain amount of time that has passed after posted, and it hasn't made FP -- it never will make it to FP, no matter what...... There are definitely several other 'tricks' to get the meme pushed to front page (some people seemed to have figured this out -- which is probably why you are seeing relatively 'bad' memes on the FP). Once a meme -- ANY meme (good or bad) makes it to FP, it is assured of many upvotes (many many more than it otherwise would have gotten).... It's not a stretch to think that any meme can likely be 'manually' pushed to the FP. So, if your good meme doesn't make the FP, don't take it to heart.

For me any of my memes that make it to the top five pages is a successful meme. As long as users here generally like the meme, I'm good
