This is a pretty complicated issue. On the one hand, I do want to know more about what the government is up to, but that is counterbalanced by my concern for letting North Korea, Iran, China, Russia, or other rivals/potential enemies knowing about what we're doing.
Also, anyone remember Valerie Plame? She was the CIA agent whose cover the Bush administration blew open in retaliation for her husband trying to expose the truth about the administration's claims of WMDs in Iraq. Outside of the political shitstorm that caused, any agents or insiders she had recruited in Iraq had to get their asses out or go to ground to avoid being disappeared. The US would end up virtually blind without those agents.
There are some things that I would like to know that would not be likely to cause serious repercussions, such as Gitmo, but it's not a long list.
If everything the government was doing was known to anyone with internet, the US would be screwed.
