I remember when we used to rent the VCR and the movies. It was the early 80's and nobody had a VCR.

It was a big deal when they started carrying multiple copies of popular releases, guarantied they'd say. Now I buy used dvds for my shop. 4 for $10.

Socrates, where do you live? Do they still have video rental stores? Here, you might see a redbox, but streaming services have killed any brick and mortar video store. I was amazed, in fact, when I went to a small town in South Dakota and saw video stores. They don't have the bandwith, I guess?

You're right, I didn't take it in the context of the meme, I sometimes take things too literally.

Good meme, btw, I was NOT try to troll you. Peace out!

It's my opinion that memes don't necessarily have to be within the times and more so on personal experience. I'd love to have seen memes in the 90s (too young for 80s and didn't exist before that)

Yeah, I agree, like I said, I read too much into it. In the context of the lonely guy it's hilarious.

I do find it interesting that the way that technology evolves can shape business. A Blockbuster or Hollywood Video franchise was the gold ring back in the day. You were set if you got one of those (or so you thought). "South Park" did a great episode on that, where Randy invested their life savings on a video store, and then turned into the psycho from "The Shining".

That's why I don't stream new movies. I'd rather get out of my house to see them. Something about going to the movies seems like another America's pass time

I remember most of the 80's (from about 82-83) and I'm so glad I lived before the internet and cell phones. Things seemed so simple back then. Although it could be just childhood memories. Lol!

It's no problem. I don't mind people asking questions as long as they don't mind that I don't always answer.
