Thanks, Its one that's been on my mind for a while, then watching what happened in Chicago tonight and hearing the term "hate speech" going around it felt like the right time.

"May you live in interesting times"...is that a blessing or a curse? Well done!

I actually really wanted to read that book. I found it a great story then, but more and more of its deeper meanings have been revealed as I've grown older. Orwell would have been an awesome chess player, he was so many moves ahead of EVERYBODY.

Yeah I need to reread both 1984 and Animal Farm!

I would love to see many read it the 1st time. I think it opens peoples eye to how they are being led around by their nose.

Didn't read it, watched it. One of the heartbreaking, terrifying movies I've seen. Wrecked me for a good bit. "Do it to Julia" ... THAT is what we are seeing. SHIT! Still wrecks me.

I really should look for that movie. I don't think I ever watched it. I had it so vivd in my head from the book, it ws actually pretty awesome when that old Mac/Apple commercial debuted because it was spot on how I saw it.

I can't say it was good because you can't say movies like that are "good" lol but it was intense. That's one I've only watched once. My husband won't let me watch it anymore lol

Dayum! Spousal protection from a movie. Now I really do need to see it.

There are two film versions. The one from the 80's you probably aware of. There was also one from the 50's that was really good too.

I've seen some stills from that I think.

It was a warning that the majority ignored and a few used as a playbook.

I think more than a few.

A few when compared to the majority who are ignoring it. Even fewer of us who see the danger that has been brought about.

I do agree with you there. The hard part to deal with is how both sides of the aisle have taken part in this. Maybe different parts, but enough from either side to almost deliver the entire situation in whole. We are only years away from it coming to that point.

All you can do is what you can do. The older one gets the more one realized that you can't change a thing en masse ... it is on the individual level that everything good ever happens.
