This is great on so many levels

there is a change in the shape of the shadow, right when he lifts the 'roof' you get a small visual of the fan above him, compare that to after he picks up the camera and looks up to when you look at the shadow cast by the model, you'll see a subtle difference near the center.

it appears that the 'cut' and edit is just as the camera swings up the wall and then points toward the 'ceiling'... The wall is of the real room, but the full shot of the fan is always the model... It seems the only view of the real fan, is in the background just after he pulls the top off the model.... And correct, there are shadow differences between the real fan and the model fan....
