I got a long term sub position because one teacher's entire family died in a water heater explosion when his extended family was visiting his parent's house during the holidays. His dad died going back into the burning building to try to save his mom. He was the construction teacher though, so I couldn't actually have the kids use any equipment because I wasn't licensed for that. We mostly just listened to music. He was gone for over a month and they weren't able to go to competition because of it. It actually really sucked for them.
