how do you tell if it's fake? I've always wondered how

You check the back shade, if you see a line on the side, the health and stats because the official ones are never above or below certain numbers, and more stuff, also gold ones are never real unless the back is normal. The back will always only be Japanese or english

You shine a flashlight through it, pressing the flashlight right up against the card
If you can see the light on the other side, its fake
Fake cards are also less shiny and have no texture

When I was like 8, Pokémon was a huge deal at my school to the point of people stealing them (I had mine stolen and sold to another kid) and there was this one kid who had 100s of rare cards (obviously fake, but I didn’t know when I was 8) everyone including me traded with him, so now I have this huge binder of very old Pokémon cards that have many fakes I will have to go through, and some possibly worth 1000s$. I don’t know why I typed all this.
