The top image is from like 10 miles away, so you get a better idea of the big picture. The second image shows where the boat would be. In my video, I had zoomed in over the people. If you look closely at the video, you’ll see the Exit sign come into view towards the end of the clip. The boat is heading towards it. Then you can see the Exit sign in the wide image, and where it’s placed on the wall 🙂

I've been thinking of the Monet show in DC this Spring. He was my favorite when I was a teen. Now, I'd have to say its Modigliani and so many more. I'd never heard of his hay stack paintings before I saw them at the Chicago Museum. I stood there forever with a dazed look and dropped jaw. They were only hay stacks! But wow!!!

I jumped out of my seat when you said they have one on Monet! Even if I could go, I wouldn't want to go to DC right now. If you asked why, I'd give you a loaded answer. I looked up the shows...they go all over. If you attend, be extra safe and take some great videos. I often fall asleep dreaming I'm at the Van Gogh one with the trees...I can hear the leaves falling.

By the way, these gifs have not left my thoughts. You gave me one of the greatest gifts I've ever received from another human. I took the gift and have been walking with it, telling myself, "Just take it. Walk with it. Just enjoy it." If you asked, it'd be another loaded answer about a dream of dirty shoes that go thump, thump, thump, and a train derailing into a meadow far below. My toes curled from these gifs. I'm still enjoying them.

Going to DC is the last thing I’d like to do, but I will place myself at risk for art. ( famous last words! ) I want to see the show, then get the hell out! Then again, it would be a chance to see the National Gallery. Washington DC is about 2 hours away from me.
As far as Monet, I was attracted to his atmospheric look, like the Houses of Parliament, for example. I’d stand in the museum and stare at how he’d apply the paint in his skies… sigh. Then I read about his approach and techniques and was excited about painting plein air, especially along the shore. Most of my paintings are done out on the beach, some with a knife. I enjoy painting in less than ideal weather at times, which makes it more of a challenge, plus the memories of making the painting have an extra kick.
Other artists I enjoy are John Singer Sargent, mainly because of his quick, confident brushwork. I have the book, “Madam X”, enjoyed that, then I got to see the painting “Madam X” in Philly, I believe.
I seem to be more of an isolation person, like Andrew Wyeth in a lonely landscape. My seascapes are mostly uninhabited. Remote.
I find pleasure in looking at a wide variety of work in the museums, and have great respect for the works on display.
I’m glad you enjoyed the gifs, I uploaded them for you specifically. If they made you smile, then my reason for existing is on the right path 🙂

You've given me a lot to think about. And I want to research most of what you've mentioned. Somehow, I'm not surprised you are an artist. I am more of a writer. Though, I am a huge fan of the fine arts and collect lithographs, paintings, and photography. I started a fictional short story that I want to enter in a contest by September. But I can't get my brain into that writing zone where I can hear and see the story before writing it down. I made a bunch of notes before I stepped away: hopefully, I'll be able to pick it right up.

I would LOVE for you to complete your story!
I think it’s fun and makes us “complete” when we take time to do things other than work, chores, repeat…
That said, I haven’t painted on the beach in 2 years! I never saw this coming. Time is slipping by, and even worse, I don’t know how easy it will be to pick up where I left off. Family medical issues were the reason, but the clouds are clearing 🙂
I’m hoping we both get back at it 😻

Yeah, same here...medical issues. I think Tolstoy actually helped my writing. I'll have to read some more of his short stories. It's a Spiritual horror story based on Gnosticism and rural American lore. Heavy stuff that I want to convey in a certain way...and it's difficult. Writing really sets images in my mind...and this writing is so completely opposite of anything I've done that I don't really like it rattling around in there. You know?

It sounds like it would do you good to get this off your plate. It sounds daunting, but I feel like you are up to the task.
I won’t likely be heading to the beaches along the Outer Banks on North Carolina, where my plein air seascapes are made, but I can try to at least sling some paint in the meantime. The family medical situation isn’t as stable as hoped, but nothing too serious.
I wish you success with your writing 🙂
I’d love for you to get your work into the contest in September 😻

Also...
I have made it a goal to see all the best art museums. If I visit a city, I see the museum. Ffunny story...my friend and I flew to Maine for a weekend just to see a travelling show on Matisse, Renoir, and Picasso. We kind of got in trouble because we were in Illinois for two weeks for job training and didn't tell anyone we were flying to Maine. We didn't want to hear "no" and our employer taught us its easier to ask for forgiveness later. (Words they had to swallow when trying to get mad at us.) It was soooo worth it! It was a small but intense show and we could see it up close. I was impressed by Picasso as I didn't know he was well versed in so many mediums he used until I saw them at the show.

Of course, I MUST see the Louvre. The Guggenheim was closed when I was in town. The NY Modern Art Museum didn't do much for me: I like the classics better. The Chicago Art Museum was INCREDIBLE! I need to go back and spend more time. They have a huge hall of armor! The weaponry is gorgeous! Unbelievable! The Denver Museum has furniture that is several hundreds of years old. Now, I must see all the Immersion shows, too.

Wow! You have more guts than I, running around to Maine while on job training, lol 🤣
It was for a good cause though 👍
I’m nowhere near as adventurous, but I used to take the train to NY and spend long weekends going to the museums. I had memberships to the MET, Guggenheim and MOMA. Out of those, the MET was my favorite. Being in NY, of course Broadway shows were also on the menu 😎👍
Sounds like you are really enjoying life ❤️

Give me a moment to reply to this. I've got some things to say. I'll be right back.
