That Israel was caught so off guard is odd, but to let stuff happen on that scale also seems a bit of a stretch.
But when I saw that top right bit about how Netanyahu was on the way out and now he's suddenly got the gov't and public unified behind him, plus add his quote from 2019, can't help but wonder,,,

It needed an excuse to invade Gaza while still looking good on the public stage, If Israel would have attacked Gaza without the initial attack from Hamas, they would never have had the support from the US that they do now and the public backlash would have been 10 fold.

I'm reluctant to go for these notions, reminds of conspiracy stuff said about 9/11, which was pretty much nonsense.

However, the "Gee, yeah, we'll be nice and let yous clear out of Gaza before we start the ground assault" is a tad suspect, as it's already the most crowded place on Earth thanks to other Palestinian refugees fleeing Israeli attacts in decades past only to not be allowed to have the right to return to their homes once the wars with other countries ended. Something like 51% of Jordan are such refugees too. So once these ops end, those fleeing may find out returning home isn't an option. No doubt why they all haven't run out by now.

All they would have had to do was ignore the signs of the initial attack from Hamas. Israels military is as good if not better than Americas.. I don't see them missing an attack like that without reason.
