Not only those big corporate monopolies but also smaller landlords on a smaller scale. Lots of these landlords try to evict their paying tenants at whim, some for reno-victions, some for other spirous claims, I can tell you this from person experience, I have had quote a few landlords try to evict me at whim even though I wasn't in rent arrears, another landlord even committed breach of contract on me before I even got a chance to move in even though the lease agreement was signed by all parties (me the tenant, the landlord and the real estate representing the landlord). Government does egregiously affect our freedom but private sector factors such as landlords can also affect our freedom as much as government. Some will say "well just get another apartment" the problem is that moving to another apartment is really not easy, properties are scare, rent keeps going up, landlords don't always approve everyone who wants to move in their property, paying first AND last month's rent is yet another challenge and moving all your stuff itself is an expensive and time consuming process.
