us jews can be gay. in the part of the torah that talks about being gay is a mistranslation, in Hebrew the masculine pronouns are used for both men and boys. also when talking about a mix of both genders you use the masculine pronouns, you could have a group of women with just 1 man and you would still use the masculine pronouns, the line itself is referring to the fact that adults should not sleep with children. the german translation uses man and boy instead.
