Two of my English Pointers used to do this every morning and their tails used to ' thud, thud, thud' on a door .... That's how I was woken up for many years :~)
Both of mine used to do the'crooked' foreleg and that straight tail pose to point out where birds and rabbits were hiding .... They needed the whip like tail :~)
