I used to be a really athletic person too, I just hated the idea of running or lifting or doing anything like that just because someone told me to. That and I am the least competitive person on Earth!
7 ups, 2y,
I have the typical Irish approach to sports " we'll do our best, but sure you know yourself ".
I enjoyed playing rugby and occasionally Gaelic football with my father and brothers but outside of that I had no interest at all. Like you I was actually pretty athletic I even picked up a few county medals.
I had friends who were scarily competitive, something I could never understand. 🤷♀️
Basically how I felt, lol. Put me in a setting to compete with myself to get really good at something and I will excel, I am actually really good at that with drive to be better at things (solo sports, self achievement, technical skills or problem solving, etc), but I have zero interest in competing with anyone else. Unless the other person is a gracious winner that acknowledges my efforts. You want to lose my respect, tell me what I do means nothing and I suck purely because I lost a stupid game or someone else did better.
3 ups, 2y,
I played, coached, and ref'ed soccer. No interest in other sports.
Yes, Octavia pointed out that it was Buster Keaton. I haven't seen that movie but I know his face and have seen some of his stuff in the past. Gotta love the old stuff! Thanks for the upvote, returning the favor :)
