It's not wrong to get inspiration from someone else's story, but it's wrong to pretend you didn't (and make millions of dollars off it if you don't plan to share).
If people still enjoy The Lion King, that's great, it probably deserves it (for being so well-made), but yeah, it seems like there are similarities beyond likelihood of coincidence.
