3 layers and the foreground was a green screen animation. You may be able to do it in GIMP if the foreground anim had an alpha channel. 80 frames at 10fps.. you could do that :)

but you do - I have seen your work. In Gimp when you have a transparent background - that's the alpha channel. You can add one when you right click in the layer window. Just found this http://www.debugmode.com/wax/ windows only so no idea if it works well - and now I must sleep...

this is a video editor I haven't used for a few years but has a lot of new feature. I'm on OSX... Can't see anything about keying but hey it's free. Has colour correction. Which is an art in itself and those who are good at it earn a lot of money

Just got back from the Fusion Site - if you can scroll past the eye candy there is a download that claims to be free. How free I don't know but Blackmagic are a high end commercial GFX company but could be a trainer software
