When I was married and the kids were growing up, my son and I were outnumbered: three females to two males. even though I had two older sisters growing up, this was something that boys didn't need to know about. (thank god!) I was 12 when I found out about it. My girls learned early on about them. One day when our oldest was about 8, she was acting like she was having a bad PMS day. I looked her straight in the eye and asked her if she was this bad now, what will she be like when she starts her periods, and that could be any day now. from then on, for the next few years, anytime she got mouthy, all I had to do was tell her any day now, you're going to start. (her mom filled her in with the horror stories about them) One day, shortly before that little girl had that experience, my wife used my line about her starting any day. Daughter looked at her and said, "Yeah, and any day you're going to stop!" made my missus feel old.
