If the person on the radio starts singing "Silent Night" and coming in late on EVERY FRICKIN' LINE and singing OFF-THE-WALL NOTES (even when the background music is right), I'ma burst a blood vessel!

And the origin of the tune - as opposed to Francis Scott Key's lyrics - is a Munich beer hall, as I understand it.

When you cover a song - particularly a classic....either you compete with the greats, or you make it your own. Aretha and Jim did both. I am familiar with the reaction, tho'. Dwight Yoakam did a bluegrass cover of Purple Rain - for instance. Some Prince fans HATE it. I like Prince, but not that over the top version, as a ballad. Liking Bluegrass I think I prefer it to the original version.

Dude, why are you trying to turn this political? All I'm saying is when I'm listening to the radio, and a song I know comes on, I like to sing along. But sometimes I can't, because it's not getting sung right. Rascal Flatts Christmas songs are particularly bad.

I upvote memes I like, no matter who posts them. Comments, too. I won't downvote a meme, not even anti-Trump/pro-Hillary ones, since that can cause it to go back to "submitted" status, and then nobody gets to see it. I will downvote a meme that is particularly douchey, but those are truly rare. I will downvote a douchey comment, because you can still see it, even if it gets to be "low rated".

Never implied THAT. I just upvote comments and memes in my pages pretty reflexively...even quite a few you might recognize. Anyway not TRYING to get political...Aretha DID GO THERE with the Anthem...like Colin K Hate if u like...but I think respectful disagreement is a better posture generally.
