Three things:
1. I've read and watched many programs about this about this topic and history in general so I know that what you're saying is made up foolishness
2. Lincoln supported banning slavery so before he was even inaugurated many southern slave states secceded b/c they believed owning slaves was a states rights issue.
3. I believe that it's only treason if you loose. Since we won the war for independence we get to say we're patriots. #losersdontgetstatues

I just found out that a lot of these Confederate statues went up around the time of the civil rights movement in the 60's as a way to intimidate blacks and let them know who is in charge.

This is a FALSE EQUIVALENCY! MLK didn't fight and die so that gay people wouldn't have rights. Robert E Lee lead a WAR against his country(treason)for the right to own black people! Do you see how that is not close to the equal?
