it takes items out of copper chests and puts them in regular chests, if they're either empty or has an exact copy of the item in its hands (it doesn't have to be the only item in the chest). and by exact, i mean the name, contents, durabillity, and even the enchantments all have to be the same (and yes, this means we now have a way to automatically sort enchanted books). a copper chest is placed when you spawn a copper golem (carved pumkin on a copper block), and they can also be crafted (8 copper ingots, 1 chest). the update also comes with copper tools and armor, and copper nuggets. and if you didn't know, there's also a new painting and a new music disc, both of which are already in the full game. have u watched a minecraft movie, btw?
