But the damage has been done to a point where the ordinary conservative parties outdo the perpetrating liberal parties (which they very rarely do in Europe), but not the EU-hostile ones who's on top by a large margin in UK, France and Germany, which has never happened to any extent before.
The old time conservatives are used to dealing with a moderate amount of immigrant damage, and won't change their reputation too much. They also want to stay cool with the EU in the process.
