Profit margins are thin. Don't forget you are paying for the building, the people inside (jobs) and the work they do to make the burger. The alternative to get a cheaper burger is to get the ingredients and do the work at home. Then you aren't paying for others to do it for you.

The comedian Steve Martin said this as part of his stand-up routine in the 1970's. What's old is new again.
