thats actually pretty similar to his incident, the only difference is hes on a deserted island after a plane crash. a plane had such severe turbulence that it blew out one of the turbines so they landed on an undiscovered island south of the caribbean.
for some reason, he decided to split from the group (who had hence formed a tribe) and try to survive independently.
he later began starving after he couldn’t catch any food or find edible plants, so he went back to the plane to search for food, only to smell a sickeningly sweet aroma.
they were charred remains of the passengers that didn’t survive. he was hesitant at first to eat it, but decided to devour several corpses to a point he contracted a supernatural disease that mutated his brain and body beyond human comprehension (he spent the time hibernating of sorts evolving meanwhile)
his intelligence, speed and strength surpassed far beyond anything earthly. however, his body adjusted in a way that he can only digest human flesh.
he was still fully conscious of his actions, and never wanted to eat others, but it was either him or the tribe.
he later picked off the other survivors one by one each day until there was one left, ironically a rescue helicopter dropped by the day he was about to be eaten. the last survivor successfully escaped the island, but Cannibal also latched on the belly of the helicopter, and was able to infiltrate urban society
