You guys can make it! Don't give up if you enjoy writing.
My main tips for struggling indie authors who literally have never written a book:
1. Just write. This sounds basic, but if you commit time to writing consistently, you will improve. (Even if it's just for fifteen minutes a day or less. You need to start sometime to make any progress.)
2. Explore different styles. This is especially important if you feel like your craft is lacking or you're clueless as to how to proceed. You could try watching Sanderson lectures on Youtube, looking up writing tips, or whatever. Just do a little research to start building your skillset.
3. Don't feel like you have to be making actual word count headway to be writing. If there are other components to your series you need to figure out, don't be afraid of doing some mental author work. This is especially useful if you hit a roadblock in the plot or realize that you're ahead of yourself and the world building. If you do a lot of driving, you can mentally work on what might happen next, or just on your lunch break or in the shower.
If you like LOTR and memes, here's a reaction video by some friends. I compiled the memes for them :)
