These characters went through more pain mentally, physically, or brutally

Squidward was mentally abused as he was always getting hurt or ignored
Steve went through physical pain as he was the only player in the game (aside from multiplayer)
Lloyd was abused; his father became evil, and his mother left him
Joe is ignored and he always takes crap from others
Courage faces lots of monsters and goes through the hell he's faced just to save his family
And for Kenny... HE ALWAYS DIES IN EVERY EPISODE
