after doing some research it was a cosmic ray from a star or supernova that was went directly at the persons console changing a one into a zero (or zero into a one) in the player position code causing him to be teleported to the top of the level and it was in 64 by the way

backwards long jump?

pretty sure it was in the first one or sm64

it was a weird glitch that happened that confused the community greatly
