I wholeheartedly agree, you have here since 2011. As someone who has overcome multiple mental health diagnoses to become a biochemist, I am pretty confident that I pull my societyl weight. What do you do, boy?
And yes, there is a difference between criticism and ad hominem. Look it up. When you post calling people derogatory names that is literally an ad hominem. Get outraged, you have nothing better to do, snowflake.
Intellectual honesty or disingenuous? I am not affiliated with any political party. I am in recovery from heroin addiction and I am back in school (4.0) getting a biochemistry/premed degree with a minor in history/philosophy of science (pseudoscience vs science is my main interest). I am up for a constructive philosophical debate anytime. But ad hominem attacks and no justification makes your position weak.
So you are calling out hypocrisy? I agree that people on both sides of the aisle are hypocrites. The media is not qualified to speak on scientific matters.. neither are most politicians. But science and scientific consensus is non partisan. It is our most reliable pathway to the truth. Science should be listened to. Do you like technology and modern medicine? If you do, then you should listen to science in all aspects of your life.
If you are interested, the American Chemical Society and google scholar have some amazing peer reviewed articles about SARS-CoV-2 research. I would be happy to discuss them with you
People with guns need to sleep sometime. People cant even stay focused for an 8 hour shift. I would like to see the general public stay vigilant for 24 hours a day for 365 days a year. Ever bow hunt for deer in a tree stand? The mind starts to wander, but imagine doing that day after day while doing other survival activities. It is a fantasy to think that guns alone will keep you safe in a state of nature.
I grew up hunting in Oregon. I went through hunter education in freaking middle school and my marksmanship is rock solid. I am a mountaineer, backpacker, and general outdoorsman. I have nothing against guns, but flooding the streets with guns that are being sold to unqualified consumers will not help anybody (especially them).
Plus, honestly, people in their prime who need a gun to defend themselves are f**king pussies. I just wrapped up a case where some dude broke into my house while I was at home, and I chased him out of my house with an ice axe (got pics of his car too) while he had a firearm. Fight or flight baby, who here has either seen someone killed or killed someone themselves with no training? It is not as easy as it sounds. I was also robbed at gunpoint while returning home from work. If I had been carrying, I would have gotten my ass shot. Know your limitations.
Oh, and evey generation of my family has served in the US military since WWI. My grandfather's brother got the medal of honor in the Pacific during WWII (J. Cicchetti, Philippines). He died saving 14 people, so I dont want to hear that I am not patriotic.
Stockpiling guns and ammo might make you feel safe, but if things really go to shit they wont actually keep you safe. Scary, but real.
