After taking her out of the cage, Gingerbread Man brought the rescued hybrid back to his home at the Citadel in his bounty hunter frigate.
"How're you doing back there, little gal?" he called back to her.
"I'm okay," the hybrid said.
"Alright," Gingerbread Man replied. Then he realized what had happened and did a double take. "Did you just talk?"
"Yeah," the little monster answered. "I know how to talk. It's in my... blue jeans, or something."
G-Man chuckled. "It's genes. G-E-N-E-S. You're just full of surprises, aren't you, uh... what's your name?"
"I don't have one," she said. "Everybody just calls me 'The Monstrosity.' That's it."
G-Man nodded sadly. "Your trainers weren't very nice to you, were they?"
The Monstrosity nodded back.
"How about I give you a better name? What do you think of..." He mumbled different ways of saying "Monstrosity" under his breath. "...Montie?"
The young hybrid smiled. "Montie. I think I like that."
"Montie it is then," said Gingerbread Man. "Welcome to the Stantz family, Montie."
The police were actually Draconic security soldiers, with a logo reading ISA on their badges. They pointed stun rifles at Boris' mafia and Capra's mobsters. Capra himself, however, was already making a hasty getaway in his shuttle - with two of the three hybrids on board. A few security soldiers tried to stop the shutyle, but they were unsuccessful. Fortunately, Tango and the money were recovered, and Boris, all his mafia men, and the rest of the Italian mobsters were seized.
A tall Draconic woman - who's name badge read Captain Krass - stepped towards Boris.
"In the name of the Infernus Security Agency, you are under arrest," Krass said to him. Turning to one of the mobsters - the one with the eyepatch - she added, "Thanks for going undercover for us, Mr. Stantz. You led us right to them."
The eyepatch-clad mobster removed his jacket to reveal a prosthetic arm made of gingerbread. "No problem, Captain. And please, call me Gingerbread Man."
Tango chirped in her cage. She had an unwavering feeling that she could trust this man. Really trust him.
Gingerbread Man looked inside the cage at the small hybrid. "Hey there, little girl. Don't worry. You're alright now."
He looked back up at Captain Krass. "I know the deal was half of the money seized, but..." He gestured to the cage. "...Could I take her home as well?"
The young creature gave a chirrup of approval.
Krass chuckled. "Anything for your bounty hunting services, Mr. Stantz."
After a month of being trained by the mafia, the hybrids were ready to be sold on the black market. A mob boss named Basilio Capra was planning an exchange in an abandoned space station just outside the Citadel - $10M in cash for the three experiments. Romeo, Sierra, and Tango were packed into cages and loaded into the mafia's shuttle.
Gangsters were waiting just inside the airlock when the mafia men wheeled the cages inside. Tango looked out at the tough Italian men wielding Tommy guns and growled. One man with an eye patch winked at her, but she was so blinded with hatred and suspicion that she didn't acknowledge it.
The mafia leader walked up to a tall, mustachioed man in a black fedora.
"Zdravstvuyte, Mr. Capra."
"Ciao, Boris."
Capra beckoned for one of his men to bring a briefcase of money. Boris the mafia boss smiled with greed.
"The hybrids first," Capra demanded.
Boris growled,lifting his trenchcoat to reveal a silver pistol.
"I not think so."
Capra sighed. "Very well."
He gestured to the man carrying the briefcase, who placed it in Boris' hands. Boris, in turn, called for his men to bring the hybrids forward. One of Capra's men started pushing Sierra towards his mobster shuttle, while another pushed Romeo. A third went up to push Tango's cage in as well.
And at that very moment, police began flooding the room.
