I must admit the fact that I see where you come from, but you are clearly not able to see the whole picture that is painted by Jane Austen, it becomes clear if one read the books (and not just watch the TV shows and movies which I guess is what you have done based upon your outrages opinions) that Mr. Wickham has much to learn from the lovely Mr. Collins, the fact that he tries to elope with Lydia is quiet reckless and not at all thoughtful, but do not get me wrong I do not fully believe that Mr. Wickham is an entirely bad character as he has some quiet obvious positive traits that in many way define him as a person. this do on the other hand not excuse all of his actions and you have to see that his is a character which represent both the good and the bad in us humans and is therefore maybe the most brilliantly written charter in the entire story.
I can not endorse this meaning as I personally do not agree with the opinions given in it, Wickham is a brute and a bully who can not be trusted. He is aggressive and blunt. Mr. Collins on the other hand is a sophisticated man who also values honour and chivalry highly. He is by other words a ideal individual. His action towards Elizabeth is respectful and gentlemanly.
