Basically, what happened was I was demonstrating a technique called Contact Splitting, where you embed the blade in the wood and then slam it down, wood, blade, and all.
Blade slipped last moment and, with a good amount of the force I used slamming it down, went into my finger. Still have the finger, saved by my dense nails.
