It always sucks as to never find out what happens because they suddenly put an end to it. The companies don't even concern themselves with the audience if they make profits off it, or they just pull out of the project before they lose money. I know some companes are not like that but it happens 9 times out of 10.
I can't even count the amount of times both of those have happened to me. I hate cliffhangers for those reasons but they do have their pros as to keeping you intrigued and not lose interest halfway through I suppose. :)
