Tell me how gender is a social construct. Up until the last few years gender was male or female. The social construct is the idea that just because I feel a certain way that it changes the makeup of my cell structure. A dog can grow up its whole life thinking its a cat but it is still a dog. A man can go his whole life thinking he is a woman but he is still a man.
Now do I think that if someone requests I use a her pronoun instead of him and they are male, I am going to respect that, not because they are a female but that is who they chose to be. Does their need to be more respect towards trans people yes. But their gender has not changed just what they ask to be called. Kind of like when you are hired for a job and you give them your name and your preferred name. I.E. Richard can go as Dick, or Johnny can go by John. It doesn't change their name but it does change what people call them
