Honestly, its mainly the fanbase. There may be an audible gasp, but fortnite itself is good. It's just the people who play it who make it looked down upon. Remember when minecraft was considered cringey" because of all the 9-year olds and whatnot? well, most of the 9-year olds moved to fortnite, and thus, it was a big reason minecraft started to rise again in popularity. The reason alot of people dislike fortnite is because of those 9 or 12 year olds who go around trash talking and dancing in public.
