It's common sense that waitresses make $2.13 an hour and expect a tip to compensate for the low wage. But restaurants participate in the $2.13 wage because they WANT their waitresses/waiters to satisfy their customers so they become frequent guests of said restaurant. It doesn't matter if I go to Chongs or Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse or Logans ... if my glass is empty for no reason other than them being lazy/talking/horsing around, then they shouldn't be expecting 15% of my bill to go into their pockets when I'm done. I've waitresses before, you get paid IF and ONLY IF YOU do the job right.
