It does mean something.Take a political science class. The constitution has no reference to democracy, only republic. We, indeed are not a democracy. The meme is stupid.

America has always been a democratic republic. Take an elementary school civics class. This saying is repeated by idiots who think that "republic" has something to do with "the Republican party". Never mind that the original Republican Party was founded by Jefferson in support of his ideals of democracy.

No we have a democratic republic. True democracy is 1 person=1 vote and there are no representative votes.
