Argument from ignorance

The fact that we can understand anything at all, and the fact that the universe operates according to regular laws, can only come from God.

I don't understand what you mean... How does our ability to understand anything at all or the presence of natural laws automatically infer the the existence of a God.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.

My thinking is this: without the existence of an Almighty Creator sustaining the universe and making sure it keeps running according to his laws, we would have no way of knowing for sure whether the laws that govern our universe were regular or not, or whether we could trust the reliability of our observations from one moment to the next.
