Well, its just as much empty bravado, but it is a little bit less crazy, if only because the countries whose politics are to the left of the US tend to be more pleasant than the ones whose politics are to the right of the US. (and also because the most commonly cited country that people say they are moving to is Canada, which would be a bizarre choice for anyone trying to escape the Democrats)
