At the end of August 2015 (I think it was on Sean Connery's birthday, actually), an imgflip user posted a meme that had a picture of Sean Connery drinking a mojito (I think it's a mojito) and claiming his meme was better than Kermit's.

It became a popular meme and had a lot of comments. Ever since then, a number of people on imgflip decided to run with the idea that Kermit and Sean Connery are mortal enemies in bitter competition for meme supremacy, partly because the idea is so ridiculous that it seems funny, and partly because memes about Kermit and Sean Connery fighting each other can be fun to make. There have been almost 500 featured memes on imgflip made about their "battle" so far, and a countless number of meme comments.
