When I read this story in the Bible, I can't help but believe that it was God who created segregation. Maybe He had good reason. The story leaves more questions than answers.

i'm not sure about segregation (which is the forced separation of peoples based on race, religion, etc. all being cultural and/or ethnic factors), but if you read the story with an unbiased eye, it looks like G-d decided that when all peoples have a uniform purpose, they will eventually turn on Him...so He sprinkled some competition into the world, so that each society would try being better than the other. You see His wisdom in practice: as countries tend to more socialist and communist economies, the populace becomes more atheist; on the other hand, capitalist countries for some reason tend to be more religious.

Obviously it couldn't be forced separation based on race if everyone was the same race and spoke the same language. And most religions teach that people SHOULD come together and be one world, brothers, equal, etc. I just find it confusing, but then, I find many things in the Bible confusing.

Gen 11:6 "Behold, the people is one, and they have one language".
There weren't any other cultures...until God divided the one people into them.

Eh; not in the best mood to talk about a book.
Besides, language go through changes, take the English language for example, used to be "thou" and "thee" during medieval times, but it changed to "You" and "Me". I'll just sit back and watch the stars and listen to Exo-planets possible to harbour life and then see what amazing language they have. :P
