Same here, just pointing out the hypocrisy. It's real easy to stay fit (Michelle) when you don't really work a job, have a personal trainer, doctor, and dietitian at your beck and call.

And, those anti-smoking ad campaigns are paid for and/or mandated by BHO's administration.

Well they do pre-date him, but they have seriously intensified. I spent 7 years selling for a distributor in the 80s, It always burned me up how the industry while maybe not universally sexy anymore but still legal, became the govt's bitch.

Yep, the industry spends untold amounts to line the pockets of Senators and Representatives to keep tobacco legal, and the industry has to pay untold sums to fund the ad campaigns AGAINST their own products. Crazy system. No wonder they're for legal pot, they can start making joints too.

Ban it or leave it alone, the govt. had made more money off of tobacco than anyone and act holier than thou. We knew in the 80s though that the US market wasn't what was important and Phillip Morris wasn't all that concerned about what happened here as long as they could export. I used to walk through those factories in Richmond every week back then. Even though the number of US smokers has dropped considerably since then, all those enormous factories still remain. Tobacco is still a golden goose, and while they may beat on it, yell at it and threaten, they will never kill the source of the golden tax egg.

Also, my wife worked for RJ Reynolds back when they still had Joe Camel. We still have some of that swag. Might be worth something on ebay?

LOL< Yeah I still have some Joe swag too, I used to have a lot of that stuff before divorce #2. Our company was in an old warehouse that was part of the rebuilding after the Civil War. On the upper floors the Tobacco reps used to come in and spend hours attaching the swag to the packs for the point of sale promotions. Of course they would get tired after taping it to several hundred cartons and dump a bunch of it in our office for us to hand out. It was a great job (we also distributed candy) :)

Funny! That was my wife's job, attaching that stuff to the cartons! Small world!

Cool! One afternoon I had a rep stick 60 cartons of Salems in my car with a shhhh, they're unstamped and I don't feel like sticking (whatever it was) to them anymore. That job had the best perks!

It was awesome cool... to the front under the raised RR tracks is the canal next to the river. If you ever saw the Geere/Portier "Day of the Jackal" the closing shot, and credits scene all took place on that street. Also some of "Glory" was shot down there. Now its all friggin condos and high-priced office space. SUCH A CRIME!

It's a 70's flick about this guy in the 1800's who instead of riding a horse, rides a buffalo. There's a hilarious song about it called "Guy on a Buffalo"(in four or five parts) on youtube if you're interested(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ4T9CQA0UM).

And you can find the whole film there too. It's a 70's film though, so if you watch it put yourself in a 70's frame of mind. Doobage. Green gold. Cannabis I mean. lol :{
