He's not stupid, but some of the plans he proposes-- especially the ones trying to keep Muslims and Mexicans out of America --seem to me like either a) he didn't give a moment's thought to the real-time logic behind them or b) he is cynically trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Probably a little bit of both.
