There's also not the creative spark present in TFA that's in the 6 previous films.
Lucas wanted to make money, but also had an artistic story to tell. Disney only wants money and to push agendas.
The messed up thing is that Disney would have still made the same amount of money with what they already had in the EU. They would have had plenty of female leads. Ridley would have been Jaina Solo. It's the same character just she's Han's kid.
And instead of Solo dying Chewie dies, but in a much more meaningful death. He dies saving children as a moon crashes into a planet. Han and Chewie and Han's youngest son Anakin are helping to evacuate a planet and they're piling refugees(ironically topical) into the Falcon and Chewie goes back for a kid and has to throw that kid up to Han on the Falcon and Han's son Anakin is flying the ship and decides that they have to leave Chewie to save everyone else. Chewie gives Han the look of "run you fools" and Han watches as the moon hits the planet. Chewie raises his hands up in defiance at the moon and roars at the moon. The planet is cracked and Han sees Chewie die. Han blames Anakin for leaving Chewie to die. It takes awhile, but later Han tries to forgive Anakin. being in a similar position of having to leave Luke behind, not knowing if he was dead.
It would have made for a better film that would still have pleased the people that liked TFA. They could have still put in the feminism angle with Jaina(Ridley). Carrie Fisher wouldn't have to worry about any strenuous scenes as well as Harrison Ford.
It would be great if somehow, Disney decided to make that film. :{
