People have different definitions of what science is, I think. So it would be a complicated discussion.

Agreed, I have never thought of the 2 as mutually exclusive. I have seen conversation here lately that that would suggest that you cannot believe in both. The conversation I had hoped to initiate was how faith and science go together. However, getting substantive conversation going has not been a strength of mine on here.

I think people who don't want to believe in God want to use the highest possible authority they can to reject his existence. Science carries a lot of weight, so they want to believe that somehow science has disproved God, or made him irrelevant in some way.

Agreed. Science has in no way disproved the existence of a higher being or plane, otherwise there would not be men of faith who were doctors scientists etc...

It is not the purpose of science to disprove God.
